How we write

How our articles are researched, written, checked and corrected.

Our promise

We want every page on Crispberry to be useful, accurate and honest. This page explains how we try to achieve that, and what to do if we fall short.

Where our facts come from

We prefer primary and official sources. For nutrition values we use published food composition data, such as the UK's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset, and manufacturers' labels. For health and dietary guidance we rely on the NHS, the Food Standards Agency and GOV.UK, and on peer-reviewed research where it exists. Where the evidence is thin or mixed, we say so.

Nutrition figures on this site are typical values. Real products vary, so the label on the pack always wins.

Health claims

UK law restricts what can be said about food and health. We only describe a nutrition or health benefit where the claim is authorised on the Great Britain nutrition and health claims register and the food meets the conditions for it. We do not call foods "superfoods", and we do not suggest that any food prevents, treats or cures a disease.

Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you have a health condition, an allergy, or are feeding a baby or young child, please talk to your GP, health visitor or a registered dietitian.

How articles are produced

We use AI writing tools to help research and draft many of our articles, particularly on the blog. Drafts pass through automated quality checks before they are published, including checks on structure, links and readability. Our team reviews what has been published on a regular basis, and we update or remove anything that does not meet the standard set out on this page.

Our core guides and ingredient pages are edited by hand and revisited when the facts change. Each one shows the date it was last updated.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we want to know. Email hello@crispberry.co.uk with the page address and what you think needs changing. We correct confirmed errors promptly, and for significant corrections we add a note to the page explaining what changed.

We decide what to write about based on what readers ask and search for. Some articles may include links arranged with partner websites; any sponsored link is marked as sponsored in the page's code, in line with search engine guidelines. When our shop opens we will sell some of the products we write about, and we will always make it clear when a page is promoting something we sell.

Recipes

Our recipes use metric measurements. Oven temperatures are given for fan ovens unless stated. Please check ingredients for allergens and adapt any recipe to the needs of the people you are feeding.
