Crispberry currently publishes guides and recipe ideas. Our shop is a future project; there are no products to order here yet. These pages are useful whether you already have a packet, are comparing ingredients or simply want to understand the process.

1. Understand what is in the packet

What is freeze-drying? explains the process. Then compare freeze-dried and dehydrated fruit. The terms describe different processes and often different textures.

Read the ingredient list rather than assuming all products are plain fruit. A coating, sweetener or carrier ingredient can matter to a recipe.

2. Choose a format for a purpose

Whole pieces and slices suit a visible topping. Small pieces can be mixed through a recipe. Powder is easier to distribute when you want colour and flavour without large pieces.

Explore fruit guides, powders and recipe ideas. These are ingredient explanations, not product reviews or claims that we personally tested every recipe.

3. Compare what you will use

Compare the total price, including delivery, against the amount you expect to use. For a single pack, delivered price per 100g = total price divided by pack weight in grams, multiplied by 100. A fictional 100g pack costing £8 plus £3 delivery would therefore cost £11 per 100g delivered. This is an arithmetic example, not a retailer price or a quote.

Buying the largest bag only helps if you have a use for the rest. Check storage instructions and your likely recipe quantities before choosing. Our UK ingredient checklist covers format, ingredients, labels and storage without claiming current stock or recommending a retailer.

4. Start with the recipe and label

Choose a recipe that uses the format you have. Fresh and freeze-dried ingredients contain different amounts of water, so a weight swap alone may change the texture or require liquid adjustments. Follow the recipe and product instructions rather than assuming the same weight will work.

Read the pack for nutrition information. A cooking-weight estimate is not a nutrient comparison or a 5 A Day portion count. The NHS portion-size guide explains its adult fresh and dried-fruit portions; it does not publish a separate freeze-dried-fruit conversion. We do not calculate one here.

5. Keep the remainder useful

Read the storage guides and follow the manufacturer's after-opening instructions. Keep the pack closed between uses and avoid introducing moisture.
